is part of an international campaign that’s building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis – solutions that science and justice demand.
350 refers to parts per million of CO2.
If we can’t get below that, scientists tell us, the damage we’re already seeing from the effects of global warming will continue and accelerate.
350 Comox Valley will focus on local sustainable food as a way to lessen the Valley’s carbon footprint.
The initiative will be spearheaded by Sue Moen, who can also be reached via Gmail or through her page on Facebook.

What does it all mean?
This is the basics of it – every time we buy food we’re voting for the kind of food that we want. When we spend money, we’re telling the people who feed us that we want more of what they’ve got to offer. We now know that every purchase we make has an impact on the world around us, on the people that bring goods to our homes and on our economy.
When 100 people shift $10 a week for a year, they reduce greenhouse gasses (GHGs) by the equivalent of nearly 10 cars, and create 1 local job. (based on average food km in NA)
- 1000 people = nearly 100 cars worth of GHG reductions and 10 new local jobs
- 10,000 people = nearly 1000 cars worth of GHG reductions and 100 new local jobs
and so on…
